Sewage Treatment Plant (TPI)
The Sewage Treatment Plant-I (TP-1) at Haroonabad, Karachi is a key infrastructure project under the Greater Karachi Sewerage Plan (S-III) aimed at improving wastewater management in the city. Designed to treat up to 100 million gallons per day (MGD) of sewage, the plant helps reduce marine pollution by preventing untreated wastewater from flowing into the Arabian Sea. The project supports environmental protection, public health, and sustainable urban development in Karachi. Treated wastewater can also be reused for industrial and agricultural purposes, helping conserve freshwater resources. Once fully operational, TP-1 will play an important role in modern sewage treatment, water recycling, and pollution control in Pakistan’s largest city.
Sewage Treatment Plant (TP III)
The Sewage Treatment Plant-III (TP-III) at Mauripur (Maripur), Karachi is a major wastewater treatment facility under the Greater Karachi Sewerage Plan (S-III) aimed at improving the city’s sewage management and reducing marine pollution. The plant previously treated about 54 million gallons per day (MGD) of wastewater and is being upgraded to a capacity of 180 MGD to handle sewage from the Lyari River basin. The project includes trunk sewer pipelines and infrastructure to intercept untreated sewage before it reaches the Arabian Sea. Once fully operational, TP-III will help protect Karachi’s coastal environment, recycle treated water for industries, and support sustainable urban water management in Pakistan’s largest city.

Desalination Water Treatment Plant (Manora)
The Desalination Water Treatment Plant at Manora, Karachi is an important project designed to address the city’s growing water shortage by converting seawater into safe drinking water. Developed with an investment of about Rs427 million, the plant uses Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane technology to produce desalinated water that meets WHO drinking water standards. The facility is designed to supply up to 500,000 gallons of potable water per day, benefiting thousands of residents of Manora Island and nearby coastal areas. By reducing dependence on tanker water and improving water security, the Manora desalination plant supports sustainable water management, coastal development, and reliable clean water supply in Karachi.
Ultra Filtration Plant (Dadu)
The Ultra Filtration Plant in Dadu, Sindh is part of ongoing efforts to improve access to safe drinking water in the district, where many communities struggle with contaminated groundwater and limited water infrastructure. The plant’s development reflects the broader provincial focus on enhancing water treatment facilities, ultra‑filtration technology, and sustainable water access in rural Sindh.
